My kid actually gasped when the oil slick swallowed the little seabird toy—that moment made the whole environmental lesson stick. The simulated spill cleanup felt surprisingly real, and it sparked a week of questions about the ocean.

We did the oil spill simulation on a rainy Saturday and the critter rescue part genuinely kept my six-year-old engaged for over an hour. The experiment made a messy topic feel real without being preachy, and she still talks about how the feathers got ruined.

The critter rescue part was the highlight for my 7-year-old—she kept redoing the spill just to save them again. I do wish the instructions had offered more cleanup methods to test, but it sparked a good conversation about pollution.
