Compare the KiwiCo Paintbrush Set and Water Pump Play Set to find the best fit for your child's creative or scientific play.
Quick answer
Choose the Paintbrush Set for portable, open-ended art on the go, or the Water Pump Play Set for splashy, hands-on science play with water and motion.
Portable art vs splashy science
Both sets encourage hands-on exploration, but they target very different kinds of play. The Paintbrush Set is built for creative expression anywhere—unroll the canvas holder and you have eight brushes ready for painting. The Water Pump Play Set is all about cause and effect: pump, spray, slide, and squirt water to learn about motion and flow.
Think about where your child plays best. The Paintbrush Set is quiet, compact, and mess-contained (as long as you have paint). The Water Pump Play Set is active, wet, and best suited for outdoors, bathtime, or a dedicated sensory table.
What you get for the price
The Paintbrush Set costs $12.39 (regularly $17.95) and includes eight brushes with different angles, stored in a portable canvas roll. It does not include paint or project instructions, so you'll need to supply those separately.
The Water Pump Play Set costs $14.96 (regularly $19.95) and comes with a kid-sized pump, stick-on water slides, a tippy cup, a nozzle, and a storage bag. It works well on its own or paired with the Water and Sand Sensory Table.
Trade-offs to consider
- Mess level: Paintbrush Set requires paint and a surface; mess is contained but requires setup. Water Pump Play Set is wet and splashy, best used outside or during bath time.
- Portability: Paintbrush Set rolls up into a compact canvas holder, perfect for travel or art on the go. Water Pump Play Set includes a storage bag but needs water access and space to play.
- Open-ended vs guided play: Paintbrush Set has no included instructions, so it's pure creative freedom. Water Pump Play Set invites open-ended experimentation with water flow, but the pump and slides offer a more structured starting point.
