Pixel Art Lightbox

My kid spent an entire rainy afternoon designing patterns on this without once asking for screen time. The kit comes with everything needed to snap together colorful tiles and watch them glow, which made for a genuinely satisfying little project we could actually display afterwards.

The glow from the lightbox is surprisingly even across all the little pegs, which makes my pixel designs actually look crisp instead of patchy. I’ve already made three different scenes in one evening and keep finding excuses to switch them up.

I wasn’t sure how much staying power a craft kit would have, but my kid keeps going back to design new arrangements on the grid. The whole assembly took us about twenty minutes, and the fact that it’s actually meant to be displayed on a desk rather than stuffed in a closet is a win.
