Basketballkatapult

My kids have played with this every single day since we built it, and I love that it actually launches the mini basketballs cleanly into the hoop rather than just flopping over. The physics behind the tension mechanism is simple enough that my 8-year-old understood it, and the satisfying thunk when

My son set this up on his own in about ten minutes and was launching balls into the hoop by the afternoon—the tension on the catapult arm is just right for smaller hands. We've been tweaking the angle to see how distance changes, which turned into a sneaky good lesson on force.

My daughter and I had a blast assembling the working catapult together, and launching the mini basketballs into the hoop actually sparked a great little conversation about angles and force. It's sturdy enough for repeated play, which I appreciate.
